Abstract
Tree planters are predisposed to injuries because their work is hard and repetitive in nature. Tree planters should know how to practice safe work procedures and how to select appropriate equipment, while planting contractors should have safety guidelines that mimimize the musculoskeletal injury (MSI) risk factors.
These ergonomic guidelines are written for tree planters in western Canada and their supervisors with the aim of reducing MSIs. Tree planters in eastern Canada may also benefit from this information, although the different planting tools used there are not analyzed in this guide.
